My Brother is a Novice Buddhist Monk

Hello!

I hope everyone is enjoying the new year! Today I want to talk about something I mentioned in my Since We Last Spoke post a couple months ago. My brother has become a Novice Buddhist Monk. I want to break this post into a couple parts. I want to explain what a Buddhist Monk is and my brother's journey so far on his path to becoming a full Buddhist Monk.

Please note that I am not an expert on this subject. I am explaining what I have come to understand about Buddhism and Buddhist Monks through my own personal studies and what my brother has told me. This post does not fully explain Buddhism in any way. If you would like to learn more about Buddhism, I suggest reading books about the religion.

A Review of 2015

Wow, 2015 is almost over! This year has been full of life changes. From graduating college to accepting life changes, I have learned so much about myself. I am slowly becoming the person I want to be, and I couldn't be more proud of the progress I have made internally this year. Here are some of the highlights from this year.

I got glasses.
I got certified to teach ESL.
I earned a Bachelor's Degree in English at Frostburg State University.
I got a job that required me to work 40+ hours a week.
My brother became a Novice Buddhist Monk.
I did my best to remain optimistic and happy in every situation.
I actually completed one of my New Year's Resolutions. I read 12 books this year.
I almost watched the entire series of Friends (I'm in season 10.)
I cut my hair very short (I prefer long hair, but I wanted to get rid of my security blanket and embrace something new.)
I lived in Philadelphia for one month.
I roadtripped to Ocean City twice with my closest friends.
I went through an episode of depression and opened up to those closest to me about it.
I started blogging again and stuck to my schedule.

What did you accomplish this year?

7 of My Top Goals in Life

Today, I wanted to share 7 of my top goals in life. I am young (only 20), and I have high expectations for myself to live the life I know I want to live. These goals have not changed in a few years, and I hope I never change them. My only wish is that this list continues to grow.

1.) I want to teach others and inspire them through my teachings.
2.) I want to travel the world and be inspired by the numerous cultures that exist.
3.) I want to become a published author and have my writing touch others.
4.) I want to complete my bucket list. (Though I am constantly adding new things to it, so this is the definition of a challenge of a lifetime).
5.) I want to one day find a lifetime partner.
6.) I want to have children (little curly haired children like me, please).
7.) I want to own an apartment overlooking the skyscrapers of New York City.

What are some of your goals in life?
