Quotes That Make You Think Vol. 2

Hi! Today's post has tons of inspirational quotes that will make you think. My goal is to challenge you to open your mind and see things from other points of view. These quotes have helped me, and I hope they will help you as well.

Quote: Be the Reason Someone Smiles Today

Inspirational Quotes Vol. 1

I've been feeling inspired the past few days. I'm staying ahead of my work for my winter intersession course, reading the news, watching history videos, and researching for a new novel idea I have. Just incase you aren't feeling as inspired as I am these days, I thought I would give you guys some inspirational quotes.

Quote of the Week: Do What You Feel To Be Right- For You'll Be Criticized Anyway

I love this quote. I think it is important that we live the life we dream of living, rather than a practical life that will gives us a decent salary (Unless that is your dream. If so, go for it!). I believe in doing the things we want to do and the things that make us happy.

It is important to do the things that make us happy, because there will be critics at every turn. There will always be someone trying to put us down. But is it better to have someone try and put us down for something we do not fully believe in?

Quote of the Week: My Favorite Quote: Socrates Philosophy

For this weeks quote of the week, I decided it was time I share my favorite quote with you. Like with any quote, the meaning of this quote may be different for you than for me.

Many of us act like we have it all figured out. We know everything there is to know. What we believe must be right. We are set in our ways.

Socrates offers a different approach. He asks us: why not act like we do not know everything? What if we have our opinions but are open minded to other possibilities? What if we take every opportunity as a chance to possibly learn something new, rather than saying: "yeah, I know about that already." What if we act like we know nothing, so then we can learn and expand our knowledge of the world around us?

Even if we think we know everything there is to know, why not act like we have more to learn? None of us know everything. There is always more to learn.

Quote of the Week: Limitless

Sometimes we put limits on ourselves. We convince ourselves that we cannot do something. We tell ourselves that our dreams are too risky. We stick to the safer side of life. But what lies on the other side of life: the unsafe side? What if happiness lies in the unsafe side? What if the safe side is full of nothing but "what ifs"? There will be hardships no matter what side we pick. We should follow our dreams. Go for what we want. The possibilities are limitless when you are doing the things you want to be doing. Anything is possible when you happy doing the things you love. The world is limitless. The possibilities are limitless. We are limitless.

Last week's Quote of the Week: Be Yourself can be found here.

Quote of the Week: Be Yourself

Be yourself. What does that mean? It means to be you. Be who you are. Be sarcastic. Stand up for what you believe in or believe to be right. Do the things that excite you, that makes your heart pump deep in your veins. Be weird. Dance in the middle of the sidewalk where people can see you. Cry and scream at the tv when your favorite character goes through a terrible breakup or dies when you least expect it. Follow your dreams. Accept that not everyone is going to be a fan of you, and that's okay. As long as you are being you, and you are happy with who you are, why concern yourself with the opinions of others?

Quote of the Week: May Your Choices Reflect Your Hopes, Not Your Fears

Does this quote really need explaining? Do not be afraid to do the things that you love. There is always the chance of  something going wrong. But would you rather have something go wrong doing something you love or something you do not love?

Your life is in your hands. Spend it doing the things you want to do. Do not let fear stand in your way.

Have a great day!

Quote of the Week: It's Time to Start Living

This week's quote is a special one. I love the background behind the quote (and the quote itself, of course). To me, this quote means to live a life of purpose. It does not mean to go through the actions of life: birth, school, college, work, marriage, kids, retire, die (although this life may work for some people). It means to make something of my life. Go somewhere new every week, try something different on the menu at a restaurant, switch up my employment if I want, travel the world, go to school for another degree just for fun, or learn to play an instrument. It does not mean to do the same routine day in and day out until I am old and finally wonder where my life has gone. It means to experience the world and to take things one day at a time. To live in the moment.

Quote of the Week: Are You Happy?

Are you happy?

Hello!

This weeks quote is all about being happy. (Have you noticed I am on a happy kick)? I have said before that this month has been hard for me in many ways. I noticed that I was not happy with people in my life and that I needed to make a change. So, I have worked on getting the toxic people out of my life.

The first step is realizing that you need to make a change. For example, if you are working your job solely for money, you do not like the people you work with, you live for the weekend, or you cannot concentrate at work because you are so incredibly bored, chances are, you need to be looking for a new place of employment.

Realizing that we are not happy and that we need to change something in our lives is a lot easier than making a change. When I was younger, I was never ready to make a change. I knew that I was not happy, but I continued to be miserable because I was afraid to change and be the person I wanted to be because it was unsecure and risky. Would I rather go to school for a degree in something that always has positions open or something that I was passionate about? Eventually I knew that I wanted to go to school for something I love. Now that I have realized this, the chart above seems almost simple. But not quite.

Making a change is hard. Especially if the thing(s) you know you have to change has(have) been in your life for a long time. Change is not instantaneous. I know that getting out of a bad job or friendship can be hard because 1.) how are you going to make money to pay the rent or 2.) who are you going to tell all your inside jokes to/hangout with when your friend is gone? For your job, I would highly suggest having a new job lined up and ready to go before you quit your old one. As for friendship, eliminating someone from your life is tough. Believe me, I have tried to get rid of this toxic person time and time again. I think why I always went back to her is because we were friends for almost eleven years. That is a large part of my life I am letting go. But it comes down to this: do I want to be happy without her or miserable with her in my life?

It goes for any situation: Do I want to be happy, or do I want to be miserable with this in my life?
